As
you read this you are probably thinking "another evangelist". I was in the
Pastorate for almost eighteen years and remember receiving more mail than I could ever
read. But the only way to share with you the fresh call that God has placed in my
life is through this page and other mailings.
Stepping out by faith into the role of a
Revivalist/Evangelist has been the hardest thing that God has ever led me to do. I
am walking away from a great Church that is growing, a Church that has provided well for
me and my family, a Church that I love dearly and a Church who has shown great love to me.
But God does not call us to be comfortable. He calls us to be Faithful.
The verse that God has continued to press upon my
heart is Hebrews 11:6 "But without Faith it is impossible to please Him: for He that
cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that deligently
seek Him. "Believe me, I have diligently sought Him in this matter.
Every message I preach will give a lost person
the opportunity to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour. John 14:6
tells us that Jesus is not just a way. He is the only way for sinful man to be
reconciled to a Holy God.
What do I mean by the word
"Revivalist"? The word means to return to life, to come back into
use. Many churches have lost their purpose of existence. The church is not all
about us, it should be all about Jesus. Ephesians 5:25 reveals that Jesus loved the
church so much that He died for it. If Jesus loves the church that much, then each
of us who have been redeemed by His precious blood ought to love the church also. As
a revivalist, I believe the call that God has placed within me, is to reveal to Christians
the urgent need to make Jesus Christ a priority in their lives once again.
When those who have been redeemed by the Blood of
the Lamb acknowledge their sin before God and genuinely repent of that sin which has
broken their fellowship with Him, then they can receive the forgiveness, the
restoration and the joy that only God can give. I will emphasize the importance of
daily denying ourselves and yielding our lives to the Holy Spirit of the living God.
And the importance of spending time each day with God in Prayer and the reading of
God's precious Word, which will result in a child of God knowing the will of God for his
or her life. Throughout the years I have often asked Christians the question,
"When were you the happiest in your Christian life?", and they always respond
with the same answer, "when I was walking close with God."
